But you'll need to hurry: The deadline for submissions is tomorrow, and applicants can drop off both garments and sketches at Rakun.
Throckmorton will narrow the entries down to ten finalists, whose works will be showcased through February at the shop; customers and anyone else who comes by will be able to vote for their favorites there.
The winner of the competition will be announced during the First Friday art walk along Santa Fe on March 2; prizes include the opportunity to have Rakun carry the winner's clothing line, as well as a $100 gift card for the shop. And all contestants will get feedback from Throckmorton, as well as some of her designer friends and colleagues; Rakun is one of eleven members of Denver Independent Boutiques.
"I just really want to give exposure to the design students that love to shop at Rakun," Throckmorton says, explaining the contest. "I get students from Metro and the Art Institute, as well as artists from down the street. We have over 25 designers from Colorado currently at the shop, and this contest is a good way to see what's next and up-and-coming."
