City Salon, which was located in LoDo, merged with sister salon Gränd in November, and moved into the Gränd Salon space in LoHi at 3501 Kalamath Street, which used to be a large plant warehouse before it became Gränd Salon. All of the City Salon stylists moved there, too. But this space is much more than the merger of two salons. The boutique nook section features a hand-selected assortment of fashion from local designers -- even some salon clients -- as well as designers outside of Colorado. "We just find stuff we like from all over," says Rewinkle. "One of our stylists does all of the curating." The salon stocks mainly hats, scarves, purses and jewelry; Gränd also regularly hosts events that support the Denver community, ranging from art openings to live music performances. "With the family-like culture we have in the salons it made more sense to bring everyone together," Rewinkle says of the merger. "It felt disconnected, for some reason. We are all a big family and we wanted everyone under one roof. It's great now. Everyone was excited to move to Gränd Salon. It's sunnier, it's brighter, there's more room, there's better resources and there is a parking lot."For more information, visit the website for more details.
