Colorado Crush, State's Biggest Street-Art Event, Coming This Weekend

Colorado Crush is almost here! The state's biggest annual celebration of street art will fill RiNo this weekend, and artists are already working on murals in the area. Starting today, you can see them repainting the outdoor canvas along the alleyways from 25th to 32nd streets between Larimer and Walnut streets, a space that won a Mayor's Design Award in 2014.

The goal this year is to make the event bigger and better than ever, celebrating art in all forms. The Colorado Crush committee — a board that includes Ken Wolf, RiNo resident and artist Jonathan Lamb and Co Crush founder Robin Munro — has come up with a lineup that includes more than forty artists, some from out of state. “We’ve gained about 50 percent more space, all the way up past the Walnut Room," says Munro. "We have the alley, but a lot of wall space on the streets, too. A lot of businesses have been reaching out to us. It’s a cool thing going on; it’s really more than ever an effort of the entire community."

What artists will be painting the streets this year? On the national and international artist roster, look for David Shilling from London, Rubin 415 from Brooklyn, Blaine Fontana from Portland, Christina Angelina from California, Lola YS Illustration from San Francisco, ELLE from New Jersey, Mike Giant from New York, and more.

Colorado artists include Jason Garcia from Boulder, Amanda Marie, Hyland Mather (also known as The Lost Object), Jaime Molina, Michael Ortiz, Hollis and Lana, Robin Munro (also known as Dread), Brian Scott Hampton, Thomas Evans, Joseph Martinez, Caleb Hahne, Mike Graves, Jeremy Burns, Mario Zoots, Molly Bounds, and many more.

The confirmed sponsors of Colorado Crush 2015 so far are Sage Hospitality and Liquitex paint, as well as Sweetleaf and Next Harvest dispensaries. Join in on the artistic celebration September 19 and 20.
