The Denver Marathon is now the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon -- and it has a 2010 date: October 17.

So what exactly is a Rock 'n' Roll Marathon? Is it like a Rock 'n' Roll McDonalds?

Not quite. According to CGI, a company that runs Rock 'n' Roll Marathons in several major cities, it's a marathon that combines lots and lots of running with live music at every mile, screaming fans, cheerleaders and a big-name concert. As they say, at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, "you are the headlining act." You, or Seal.

Registration is now open for Denver's marathon and half-marathon, which CGI is estimating will draw 15,000 runners altogether. The race finishes at Civic Center Park and, according to the press release, "travels past many of Denver's major landmarks including the Denver Public Library, Art Museum, Larimer Square, the Pepsi Center, Union Station and Coors Field, as well as City, Cheesman and Washington Parks." The Denver Public Library? Whoo-hoo!

But wait! There's more! "The majestic Rocky Mountain backdrop coupled with the area's lush green parks makes the Denver marathon course a runner's delight," said Kari Logan, event director, in a press release.

Hear that, Denver? You're a runner's delight! And the first 500 people to sign up for that delight will get discounted registration fees: $70 for the marathon and $55 for the half marathon.

Rock 'n' Roll McDenver! Rock 'n' Roll McDenver!
