Fashion shows and shopping on the calendar this week

With the holidays approaching, there are plenty of fashion shows and shopping opportunities this week -- all reason to give thanks. Here's a sampling of what's on the fashion calendar before Thanksiving and Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of all. See also:The real story behind Black Friday Brass Ring Luncheon-Fashion Show Tuesday, November 19 The Children's Diabetes Foundation hosts its annual Brass Ring Luncheon fundraiser, with proceeds going to research and programs at the Barbara Davis Center. This year, Josh Schmitz, owner of Ruckus Apparel, will produce the show, alongside Rustin Coburn and Autumn Binion. They'll bring their own style to what they promise will be a one-of-a-kind runway show. Registration and the silent auction begin at 9 a.m., with the luncheon and the show starting at 11:15 a.m. at the Marriott City Center, 1701 California Street. In the Cut Fashion Series: A Runway Show and Competition Tuesday, November 19 and November 26 The In the Cut competition continues on Tuesdays through November. Three designers face a new challenge each week. The winner will move on to the finale in December and a chance to win a $1,000 prize; a model will also win $250. Akomplice, J Dilla Foundation and Joey Bada$$ Limited Capsule Collection for Music Education Thursday, November 21 The brothers of Akomplice are joining forces with late rapper/producer JDilla's Foundation and emcee Joey Bada$$ to release a collection of T-shirts and crew necks; an homage to JDilla -- an angelic cloud graphic of his face -- graces the front of the shirts. Also included with the collection is a 45 record that contains an unreleased Dilla beat, "Two Lips," on side A and a track over the unreleased JDilla beat on side B. All proceeds from sale of the limited colleciton will go to purchasing instruments and music lessons for kids in Detroit and Brooklyn. The line will be available starting November 21 at Akomplice Clothing. Larimer Square Winter Fashion Show and Luncheon Thursday, November 21 Edge in the Four Seasons Hotel will host a winter fashion show and luncheon featuring retailers from Larimer Square , with the latest fashions from the Boutique Collection on display. The University of Colorado's In the Buff Men's A Capella will entertain. Tickets are $21; call Edge at 303-389-3343 to make a reservation. Junior League Mile High Holiday Market Friday, November 22 - Sunday, November 24 The Junior League's three days of shopping with one-of0kind merchants is a holiday favorite -- especially Friday's private shopping champagne breakfast for $40. The Holiday Mart is at a new location this year, the Denver Marriott Tech Center at 4900 South Syracuse Street. General admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door; purchase tickets at JLD.org.
