Event organizer Laura Bauer says that while last year's event saw some success -- eighteen girls found the right dress -- she saw a need for growth. "I wanted to take the Prom Dress Exchange up another notch, and I knew in order to do that, we had to form a non-profit," says Bauer, who took on the formal-wear trade last year and has since turned it into a charity. All donations from today's event will go toward helping the organization pay for a storage facility for the dresses, and, eventually, Bauer hopes, a permanent storefront.
The Prom Dress Exchange goes down today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the suite level of Dick's, 6000 Victory Way in Commerce City. Although the $10 donation is requested, no one will be turned away. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/promdressexchange or call 303-875-4783.
