It’s back to basics this year at the annual Taste of the Nation benefit for Share Our Strength: thirty presenting restaurants, a compendium of sips from Colorado breweries and wineries from across the nation, a silent auction and some live entertainment. There’ll be no stuffy sit-down dinner, either; instead, you’ll follow your nose, flitting from station to station.

“We have a lot of great restaurants that haven’t participated in past years,” notes spokeswoman Aubrey Cornelius — and all in all, it’s a venerable list of the Mile High City’s hot and hotter you’ll encounter there, including Vesta Dipping Grill, Steuben’s, Table 6, Barolo Grill, Jing, Mezcal, TAG, Beatrice & Woodsley, Jonesy’s EatBar, D Bar Desserts and more. And Taste will add some new features, including a mixology showdown overseen by Steuben's bartender extraordinaire Sean Kenyon and emceed by D Bar’s Keegan Gerhard. May the best cocktail win.

Heavy noshing begins at 4 p.m. and continues until 7 p.m. at Mile High Station, 2027 West Colfax Avenue; admission is $75 in advance, $85 at the door, or $100 to $110 for a VIP pass, which includes early entry and access to the 5280 Chef Lounge.
