"After this beehive was installed in my backyard almost two years ago, I just started observing the bees and fell in love with them," explains Vanishing of the Bees screening coordinator Amber Coté. "The more research I did for the collapse of beehives and colonies, the more horrifying it was; the bees are symptomatic of much bigger issues. It became a personal crusade of mine."
The screening is free and will begin at 6 p.m. at the Stargazers Theatre & Event Center, 10 South Parkside Drive in Colorado Springs. But first there will be a Bee Happy Hour at 5 p.m., with Beehive Honeywheat beer and honey tastings from Bristol Brewing, a Colorado Springs microbrewery. Regular beer and lemonade will be served at discounted prices, too, and Stargazers will provide a full dinner menu. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with beekeepers and representatives from the local food movement.
