For all those who give pom-pom critters for birthdays, feel an urge to stick googly eyes on everything or just occasionally get a twitch to fold some origami, we bring you "Gettin' Crafty," where we feature a craft you can easily make with minimal supplies and limited finances. With the Super Bowl this weekend, I'm sure many of you are already wringing your hands and saying your prayers in anticipation of next year's NFL season. Here is a craft to fill some of your free time in the off-season -- at least one Sunday, anyway. Supplies
  • Glass mug or pint glass (available at dollar stores)
  • Acrylic paints
  • Paintbrush

Instructions 1. Get the team's logo that you will be painting on your mug. Since I like underdogs and can't bring myself to care about the Broncos right now, I am a Chiefs supporter. As a plus, the Chiefs logo is much easier to paint than a Bronco or the Ravens logo, or one of that ilk.

2. Begin painting, carefully, in short dabs to get the most concentrated color. 3. Go color by color, giving each individual color a chance to dry before applying the next one. This will prevent any color bleeding and ensure rich colors.

4. Let it dry completely (I left it overnight).

5. Pour a beer and begin researching draft picks. As a warning, acrylic paints are relatively durable, but if you plan on dishwashing and using the mug daily, I would spring for the specially made glass paints. They are more expensive but hold up better over time than regular acrylics.
