Denver is one slammin' town, and that's to our advantage: It means we're not under the radar of the national slam poetry community. Rather, Denver is a destination: Touring poets make it a point to stop over here, say "hey" to their Denver brothers and sisters and perform for them in an appreciative arena of peers who know what's what. And so, on Memorial Day, SlamNUBA will welcome Individual World Poetry Slam Champion Rudy Francisco of San Diego to its regularly scheduled Monday-night slam for an exclusive evening of performance poetry on the level of extraordinary, for only 5 bucks at the door.

Following is a sample of what's you'll be missing if you don't go, although of course you will go after seeing this:

SlamNUBA will start on May 30 with an open mic, and a slam will commence after Francisco's turn on stage; arrive at 7:30 p.m. to sign up for a slot; the poetizing begins at 8 p.m. at the Crossroads Theater, 2590 Washington Street. For details visit the Facebook event page.
