The boozy excesses of St. Patrick’s Day weekend are enough to sabotage anyone’s diet, so Denver Co-ed Soccer is giving party-goers a chance to sneak in some exercise during the second annual Bikes & Beers bar crawl. “Pretty much all of us are really active as soccer players, and in the summer we bike a lot,” says organizer Will Sieck. “We’d done other people’s bike crawls, and we figured, why not do our own, raise a little money, and have a little fun along the way?”

The crawl starts at 10 a.m. with pints and mimosas at the British Bulldog, 2052 Stout Street, which will be screening the English Premier League match-up of Chelsea versus Aston Villa; from there, the group will pedal to William’s Tavern, 423 East 17th Avenue, and on to the Three Lions, 2239 East Colfax Avenue, which is hosting a viewing party for the Colorado Rapids’ season opener at New York. As a bonus for early birds, the first crawlers to buy a drink at the Bulldog will have a chance to win tickets, autographed soccer balls and other memorabilia donated by the Rapids.

A portion of the proceeds from the crawl goes to supporting Denver Coed Soccer, a five-year-old pub league that runs games throughout the metro area. Crawling is free, but food and drink is not; for more information, visit denvercoedsoccer.tk.
