Heather Doyle-Maier: Dancing in Bo(u)nd Emmanuel Gallery 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 20 FreeYou go to a gallery expecting to see art, and you will definitely do that at Emmanuel Gallery, where Heather Doyle-Maier's painstaking installation Bo(u)nd, a kind of book that unfolds in raggedy bedsheets and tender eggshells across the room, is currently on view. But tonight only, choreographer/dancers Tara Rynders, Katherine Wagner and Jacob Tyler will interact with the piece during a closing reception. Bo(u)nd continues through Friday.

As the current Germinal space is smaller than the company's old digs, reservations are recommended.
Opera on Tap: Hot Summer Nights/Dance Party Deer Pile 8 p.m. Friday, August 22 $8 in advance ootcoaugust14.eventbrite.com/ $10 at the doorOpera on Tap might be one of the best-kept secrets in the city's performance world, every month bringing arias into nontraditional settings -- usually with drinks -- and making opera fun instead of stuffy. Denver's edition, currently running at Deer Pile, is preparing to move in September to the new Syntax: Physic Opera, located in the same space that once housed Opera on Tap's former venue, the Bar.
"This is like a homecoming for us!, says Opera on Tap director Eve Orenstein. "We loved performing in that space with the previous owners, and are so excited with how it looks and sounds now. There's is even 'opera' in the name!"
Celebrate tonight with a torrid operatic set, followed by an old-fashioned dance party; Opera on Tap's first show at Syntax, "Almost All of...The Marriage of Figaro," happens on September 13.
