Executive director Anton Villatoro pulled out all the stops for the inaugural Denver Marathon. "Dave McGillivray, our race director, designed the course," enthuses Villatoro. "He wanted to design a course that would highlight all of Denver's major landmarks." And how: McGillivray, director of the Boston Marathon, starts the course at the Civic Center, winds it past the Denver Central Library, the Denver Art Museum, the Colorado Convention Center, Larimer Square, the Pepsi Center, Union Station and Coors Field, takes it through several city parks and down to the Santa Fe Art District, then returns runners to the park. There are also several race formats to choose from: the full 26.2-mile marathon, a half-marathon, a four-person relay marathon and a mile-long race for the kids. Registration fees range from $10 to $200; all races begin at 8 a.m. Sunday, and day-of registration is at the Adam's Mark Hotel, 1550 Court Place.

Gear up for the race at the Denver Marathon Health and Fitness Expo, taking place at the Adam's Mark from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow. For information, visit www.denvermarathon.com.
