That was the question ringing in the minds of members of the aristocratic comedy troupe Wrist Deep Productions, and they vowed to bring their special brand of high-society humor to the reeking, inebriated Colfax masses. The result is Slumming It: A Night of Live Comedy at Rockbar. For one evening, Ben Roy, Greg Baumhauer, Jim Hickox and former Westword scribe Adam Cayton-Holland will take temporary leave of the ivory tower to amuse and educate the common folk on such noble pursuits as public masturbation, cross-dressing, Internet stalking, double penetration and blacking out.
As at Shakespeares Globe Theatre, admission price comes in two tiers: $10 for the well-to-do poor who want booth seating, and $5 in the standing-room-only section for the destitute scum. Rockbar, which is located at 3015 East Colfax Avenue, will have plenty of inexpensive intoxicants on hand, along with DJ music, to put some fleeting joy into the otherwise dismal, laborious lives of patrons. Laughter, of course, will be free. The show starts at 7 p.m.; for tickets and more info, call 303-322-4444 or go to www.myspace.com/wristdeepproductions.
