"The response has been great and it's been a great opportunity to begin to integrate the stories of Colorado's artists, innovators and entrepreneurs," says Something Independent co-founder Chuck Sullivan. "The auction is showcasing art by Colorado artists on a truly Colorado canvas, and there are also skis and boards from ten Colorado companies who were featured in the show."
Snowboards in the Artist Works auction were designed by Elsa Carenbauer, Alex Geittmann, Amanda Gordon Dunn, Mike Graves, Guerilla Garden, Andrew Hoffman, David Sheets, Todd Resley, Pat Milbery, Chris Huth, Joe Strieby, Kyle Banister, and Grace, Micah, and Mark Hollenbeck. Skis in the Artist Works auction were designed by Jake Ender, Jonathan Lamb, Troy Derose, Jed Norfleet, Ian Leeming, and Debbie Clapper.
The Art of Winter also featured a Brand Gallery featuring snowboards by Never Summer Industries, Venture Snowboards, Unity Snowboards, and Oz Snowboards, and skis by Folsom Skis, Grace Skis, Meier Skis, Icelantic Skis, Liberty Skis, and Ski Logik. Each contributed one snowboard or pair of skis to the auction, some of them from next season's lines.
"If you win the pair of 2012/2-2013 Icelantic Shamans you'll probably be the first person on the mountain with them," Sullivan says. "Win the auctions for the Folsom Skis or Grace Skis and you could be rocking fully custom skis of your own."
