Street Style: Film Festival's Britta Erickson in Alexander Wang and Sophia Webster

Shoes can be the stars of an ensemble. We spotted Britta Erickson, festival director of the Denver Film Society, at the premiere of Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, walking the Denver Film Festival red carpet in steel-cut metallic stilettos by designer Sophia Webster. "They are the Evangeline style from her Angel Wing Collection. I saw them and had to have them," says Erickson.

As for the rest of her red-carpet ensemble, Erickson explains: "The shoes were the inspiration; I wanted them to pop and surprise. And given that the Denver Film Festival Centerpiece Red Carpet was just two days after our Opening Night Red Carpet, I wanted to shake it up from the elegance of that first night with a look that was more rebellious, fun and decidedly more Denver than Hollywood. The knitted sweater weave of the Alexander Wang — who is one of my fave designers — with white top and skirt and the black faux-fur felt very Colorado rocker-chick to me."

Style inspirations and icons: My bohemian fashion sense is not singularly inspired by someone or something — rather, it comes from many people and places. Working in the entertainment industry, I'm certainly influenced by what I see in films, from the classics — Breakfast at Tiffany's, Desperately Seeking Susan — to new independent features. Awards season is fun to keep an eye on for red-carpet inspiration.

Style mantra: Life is too short to wear sensible shoes. And...there are no rules.

Shop at: I'm an impatient and last-minute shopper, so I tend to stick with what I know — except when I travel and love to check out local boutiques. I'm a Free People junkie. Nordstrom is great for shoes. Neiman's is great for red-carpet attire. Sabine Rocho at Eve on Larimer Square is amazing at pulling just the right things off her racks that work perfectly  for whatever occasion I'm scrambling to pull something together for at the last-minute.

Favorite color: Blue, although besides jeans, I don't often wear that color.

Favorite accessory: Besides my storied shoe obsession and collection, I'm a huge fan of hats and beanies.
