Cherry Creek North jewelry maker Elizabeth Lindsay made her first Token Tags for her father to wear when her mother’s battle with cancer ended. “He never took them off,” she says of the precious-metal charms, which were stamped with encouraging words. “Then I made some for myself, and everyone asked me, ‘Where did you get those?’ I had a big sheet of silver in my tool box, so I took that and started stamping out some words.” Thus an industry was born.

In the present, Lindsay — who still hand-stamps each piece, letter by letter — can hardly keep up with the demand for the tags, which include everything from a small heart charm to a round tag stamped with a dog bone, heart and paw on one side and customized with your dog’s name on the other. Some come with dangling gemstones, others with personalized sentiments, and some are just plain funny, like the ones that say, simply, “conniption” or “hell if I know.”

Lindsay will offer special deals on her tags, along with organic cupcakes, champagne and a raffle for goodie bags filled with local swag, during a holiday Sparkle Party, tonight at her shop, Elizabeth Lindsay Creations, 3033 East Third Avenue. The evening also features fellow local women entrepreneurs Memory Divas and jeweler Jill Pfefer. Celebrate and shop from 5 to 9 p.m.; get info at www.tokentags.com or 303-333-9989.
