One thing promoters often struggle with is trying to figure out how many T-shirts they'll need for their event. Whether it's a fun run, a marathon or a block party, tallying up the numbers can be a difficult process. Troy's Custom Tees' Troy De Baca hopes to solve that problem by taking his screen-printing service to the streets, with a launch event at 7 p.m. tonight at Highland Tap and Burger, where he'll be slinging hot-off-the-presses shirts with custom designs made specifically for today's launch.

"I've had this in-house screen-printing company, and I decided I wanted to take it in a new direction," say De Baca. "Making it mobile, with on-site screenings, seemed like the step to take." The new truck, dubbed TCT's Mobile Screen Printing Lab, will be available for hire for any wide range of events, from the fun to the corporate. "Essentially, we'll burn the screen ahead of time," continues De Baca, "and screen them right in the truck for everyone who needs them."

For De Baca, it's a unique opportunity to bring something new to the idea of event promotion while still maintaining a limited liability for everyone involved. "If you're promoting a time-sensitive event, this ensures you don't end up with more than you need," he says.

In conjunction with the launch of the truck, De Baca is also starting a T-Shirts for Humanity program, in which the truck and the screen-printing shop will work in tandem to build community and give back to it.

If you've ever wondered exactly how screen printing works, or if you're just looking to get in on the action (not to mention beer and burgers), hit up Highland Tap and Burger tonight.
