Off the Beaten Path: Carr and Chopra reading at RedLine (Friday, free) The traveling exhibition Off the Beaten Path opened at the beginning of the month, showcasing work from all over the world that addresses and attempts to change the culture of gender-based violence. Tonight this powerful show will be the setting for thoughtful readings by Serena Chopra and Julie Carr.Our Thoughts Are Objects at GNU: Experience Gallery (Friday, free) Destruction can be a lot of fun -- and you'll get to participate in the destruction of a whole lot of musical instruments tonight. Artist Brett Schreiber is inviting folks to bring a musicial instrument to Fort Collins to smash at his performance piece tonight, which is the first part of his process of creating an art installation. The Facebook invite warns that you might leave covered in paint, so definitely dress in clothes you don't mind destroyed, or at least altered.
Denver Outlaws + Old School at Sports Authority Field at Mile High (Saturday, $10) Today's Denver Outlaws' lacrosse game against the Rochester Rattlers will be followed by a screening of Old School. So you can watch a bunch of dudes duke it out for a win, and then watch Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson's drunken antics as they start a fraternity in this comedy.
Denver PrideFest 2012 at Civic Center Park (Saturday-Sunday, free) Fight for civil rights this weekend at Denver's annual PrideFest. This giant GLBTQ party features a wide variety of entertainment (including Kristine W. and Fab Morvan), food and drinks. It's always fun to people-watch and party; be sure to dress in rainbow colors. Tattooing As You Like It Release Party at The Denver Press Club (Saturday, free) This release party for Tattooing As You Like It celebrates the subject of the book: tattoo legend Milton H. Zeis. It's a biography of the man as well as a tribute, featuring homage art from 95 other artists. The release party will include a photobooth, music from Mile High Soul Club, Zeis-related items and the book, of course. Learn more about this man's fascinating history and enjoy the party while you're at it.Juneteenth Music Festival at Five Points (Saturday, free) Celebrate the day that slaves in Texas learned they were free at this music festival. There will be role-playing history lessons as well as a whole lot of entertainment options, from funk music by the Ohio Players to booths with local vendors and other musical acts.
Salsa Con Jazz at City Park (Sunday, free) If you're looking for something free to do with your dad on Father's Day, look no further than City Park. The weekly free jazz concert series continues tonight with Salsa Con Jazz, making this the perfect place to hang out in the park with your dad, drink beers (3.2 is allowed if it's not in glass bottles), and enjoy some street food as you thank him for half of your DNA.
Getting Lucky with Lucky Deluxe at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret (Sunday, $10 in advance) You can always count on burlesque performances to end in brightly colored pasties, and while we're pretty certain Lucky DeLuxe's one-woman show will incorporate those, she also adds something a little different to her performance: comedy. Her one-woman show combines stand-up and the art of the striptease in an entertaining, funny and titillating show.
