It looks like March is roaring in like a lion just in time for the weekend, but that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of things to do for fun. From Johnny Depp's classic bad-boy role in Cry-Baby to a whole slew of art openings, we've got plenty of interesting events to attend that won't maul your pocketbook.

Leila del Duca Art Opening at KJ's Coffee Bar (Friday, free) Leila del Duca creates beautifully inked, intricate comic art, and she'll have pages on display tonight at this opening as well as speak a little about her process. There will be pages from her many comic book projects, and it's also a great chance to see her ink and stories up-close and in-person, rather than just on the page.

Kim Harrison at the Tattered Cover Colfax (Friday, free) If you've run out of vampire-themed books to read, you're in luck. Kim Harrison's A Perfect Blood fits snugly alongside other supernatural books like The Southern Vampire Mysteries and Twilight, and she'll be in town to read from and sign her spooky thriller tonight.

Tears of Gaza at the Mercury Cafe (Friday, free) This brutal documentary about the Israeli military's attack on Gaza exposes the harsh brutalities of war by following three children in Gaza caught in the fire. It won't be an easy film to watch, but it's sure to be an important one.

Full Flavor Friday with Lance DeSardi at Bar Standard (Friday, $10) The best way to stay warm in the snow is dancing. Luckily, Bar Standard is offering up a killer dance party tonight by bringing San Francisco electronic artist/DJ Lance DeSardi to town. Warm up by getting down to DeSardi's techno and house-influenced beats.

Free Day at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield (Friday, free) Take a walk in wildlife for free at the Botanic Gardens free day all day today. Nature trails, gardens, and beehives will make this a mellow and picturesque activity for a Friday afternoon.

Cry-Baby at the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax (Friday-Saturday, $7) Whether or not you lucked out and got a pair of coveted tickets to see John Waters at RMCAD next week, you can view this Waters classic tonight as part of The Watching Hour. Johnny Depp plays dreamboat, the leather-clad, bad-boy Cry-Baby Walker in this deliciously campy, totally amazing film.

Free First Saturday at the Denver Art Museum It's always nice to forgo the entry rate to see the collections at the Denver Art Museum, and this Saturday the free day will be enhanced by singers from Opera Colorado performing in the galleries from their Amazon-themed production, Florencia en el Amazonas. Opera while viewing the art, combined with those trippy flashing numbers is sure to make for an interesting--albeit somewhat bizarre--day at the museum.

Kill All Redneck Pricks: A documentary about a band called Karp at Yellow Feather Coffee (Saturday, $5) We know we keep telling you to go to Growler Records' Mid-Winter Punk Fest, but that's just because the screenings keep ruling. Tonight the record store will host the Denver premiere of this documentary about Karp, the legendary Washington '90s post-hardcore band. This highly-anticipated documentary features interviews with Calvin Johnson (K Records, Beat Happening), Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre) and Joe Preston (Melvins) to tell the story of this influential group of punks.

Read zines at the Denver Zine Library (Saturday-Sunday, free) Spend a cozy day browsing the shelves of handmade zines at the Denver Zine Library. The DZL just ended their fundraising campaign yesterday, so go in person to see why those dollars were well spent.

Frederick Wiseman: Bodies in Motion at the Dairy Center for the Arts (Sunday, $10) Wiseman's documentary Boxing Gym about, you guessed it, boxing, will screen today as part of a series of the filmmakers' work. See this fascinating look at the wild array of characters who come to punch at Lord's Gym in Austin.
