Before the harsh realities of 2014 slap you in the face, the Hotel Boulderado is offering a fantasy escape of classy flirtation and cock-sure danger at its New Year’s Eve James Bond Ball. “Bond is an enduring character who’s been so iconic through the decades, and the Hotel Boulderado has been a landmark in Boulder since 1909, so we really wanted to connect with that sense of classic character and modern appeal,” says event manager Genevieve Taylor.

The hotel has hosted New Year’s Eve parties since it opened more than a century ago; the 2013 event, which combines Monte Carlo casino aesthetics with Bond film projections and tuxedo-styled napkins, strives to embody “that combination of history and tradition with the newest styles, which is really central to the spirit of the James Bond franchise and the Hotel Boulderado,” Taylor adds. “People come to the Bond franchise from so many different decades, but it seems like everyone I talk to has a story about which movie really made an impact on them and which era of Bond is their favorite.”

The New Year’s Eve James Bond Ball begins tonight at 8:30 p.m. at the Hotel Boulderado, 2115 13th Street in Boulder. General admission is $85, with dinner options starting at $140. Reservations are required; call 303-442-4344
