9) Tallie Dietz Jewelry for the Apocalypse Sale
 6 to 9 p.m, Friday, April 3
Fancy Tiger Clothing
55 Broadw
ay

Tallie Dietz views the world as an exploded treasure chest, and her artistic process lies in reassembling the bits: “What happens is that I'll see a shape or color combination that I really love, so I'll make some earrings or a necklace or whatever out of that idea and then I can have it with me all the time. Or sometimes I'll find an actual little thing — a shell, a rock, a bone, a piece of metal, a scrap of fabric, a rusted wing-nut —  that is too beautiful to leave alone. I'll put it in my pocket and carry it around for a while. I usually find it again in the laundry. If I still like it, it gets incorporated into a real piece of jewelry.” Her storytelling comes through in her work; each piece has a history. Her approach is to create small batches of jewelry that she believes in when inspiration strikes, which has gained her quite the cult following in Denver. Many artists struggle with limited space but Dietz has embraced it, allowing her creations to become a part of her daily life, “There are earrings hanging off of a planter in the living room," she says. "There are bracelets on the kitchen table, on the floor by the bed, the towel rack in the bathroom is perfect for necklaces, most pockets of my jackets have an emergency back-up accessory of some kind.” Meet this free-spirited artist and see Jewelry for the Apocalypse, her new line for Marrow.
