Kellen’s style attracted the interest of George Lopez, who regularly uses him as a touring opener. But at tonight’s Comedy Works at Nissi’s Bistro, Kellen will be paired with local comic Andrew Overdahl.
Although Nissi’s, which is located in Lafayette, is very different from the regular Comedy Works venues, the bistro is perfect for comedy, according to Mark Raftery, director of operations for Comedy Works. “Nissi’s is a really great venue for comedy, and they’re far enough away where events don’t compete with what we’re doing downtown and at the Landmark,” he says. “It’s a great location because of the way the stage is set up in the corner of the room and everyone is right there in front of you. Sightlines and sound — everything is just perfect in that regard. It’s turned out to be a really good relationship.”
Just like Kellen’s marriage and his comedic material. Tickets to tonight’s show, which starts at 7:30 p.m., are $10 in advance, $12 at the door; Nissi’s Bistro is located at 2675 North Park Drive in Lafayette. For more information, go to www.clubnissis.com.
