Tonight's opener is a twin screening at 7 p.m. of two works by Chris Marker: La Jetée, the influential, time-traveling, post-apocalyptic sci-fi wonder shot in still images; and his masterpiece, Sans Soleil, a globe-trotting, experimental visual essay that reveals one stunning image after another, some of them sampled from other filmmakers.
Other films include Inferno, which binds together footage from auteur Henri-George Clouzot's unfinished film with archival material, photographs, storyboards and interviews, on April 9 (followed in the lobby by Art-Plant Light Media's Film Night 2013, a showcase for local experimental films); The Eyes of Laura Mars, as part of the Watching Hour series on April 19 and 20; the documentary Marwencol on April 23; and the short-documentary showcase, VII Uncommissioned, with co-director Ed Kashi in person, on April 30.
Admission is $7 to $10 per film; for a complete schedule and details, visit denverfilm.org/filmcenter or call 720-381-0813.
