Stories, Stories, Bring Your Stories at the Mercury Cafe (Tuesday, free) When families get together over the holidays, it's a guarantee that embarrassing stories will emerge. If you're tired of hearing the same old family tales, come listen to Ed Ward, professional writer and storyteller, dish out a few. He'll offer a good one tonight about his ex-girlfriend, "Crazy," who dragged him to Denver -- only to leave him here. Joining Ward tonight are special guests Kristin Rand and Sarah Reagan Wells.

Karaoke at Beauty Bar (Tuesday, free) Whether you have friends and family in town or you're just flying in solo, karaoke is one of the finest ways to bring people together -- especially when karaoke master of ceremonies Mark Star is in charge. Admission is free, and so are the Mezcal tacos that will be served; tequila's only going to set you back $2 a pop, which is cheap enough to create a hangover that will last until Christmas.

Free Dental Care at Comfort Dental (Wednesday, free) Comfort Dental is offering its own gift this season that's very welcome for those without insurance: a free check up or cleaning.
