Wrap up some fun this week before holiday obligations fill the calendar. You can celebrate the city's best neighborhoods, get prepared for winter or chit-chat with a local comedy icon. Drop us a comment if you know any bargains we missed, and check out the Westword calendar for a complete line-up of events.

Avalanche Awareness Class at Ratio Beerworks (6:30 p.m. Tuesday, free)
Just like the Boy Scouts, you should always be prepared. If you're doing any exploration of the high country, you should know the ins and outs of avalanche navigation. Even if you're not skiing in the back country, avalanches have been known to hit mountain highways. While you're learning how to hold steady during such a disaster, Radio will be serving Hold Steady. The free program is presented by Friends of Berthoud Pass.

Stompin' Ground Games—-La Alma/Lincoln Park at Buntport Theater (6 p.m. Thursday, free/donations)
It's hard to determine definitively which neighborhood is the best in the city, but our good friends at Warm Cookies of the Revolution are giving it their best shot with the year-long Stompin' Ground Games. This month they'll be checking out the west side of the city and the neighborhoods of La Alma-Lincoln Park, including the Santa Fe Arts District, Sun Valley, Auraria, Baker and the Golden Triangle. Learn about the current issues in these areas, and then get ready to dance everything from Mexican folk ballet to Brazilian, Irish steps and even break-dancing. Get down and mix it up — and if you have any memorabilia associated with one of these neighborhoods, bring it down for the city to archive.

Talking Shop with Adam Cayton-Holland at Mutiny Information Cafe (7 p.m. Thursday, free)
You should never miss a Talking Shop program, especially not this week when the live comedy-nerd podcast welcomes one of Denver's most famous funny exporst, Adam Cayton-Holland. Fresh from taping his new show, Those Who Can't, Cayton-Holland will have many stories and a wealth of wisdom to share. Hosted by Anthony Crawford, this promised to be a special evening. If you can't make it to the show, you can always download the show here
