A Ski Train day looks something like this: At 7:15 a.m., you pull out of Denver, reclined for an hour-long nap as the train snakes through Arvada and toward the mountains. Theres no road, so its just train tracks and river, with incredible views, says general manager Jim Bain. No matter how much time youve spent in the mountains, its a unique experience.
After the Moffet Tunnel under the Continental Divide, you hop off the train at 9:30 a.m. to find yourself a snowballs throw from the lift.
At the end of a full day of skiing, you fall back into that reclining chair before the train takes off at 4:15 p.m. Thinking about where you could be sitting in traf-fic on I-70 that beer, wine or margarita you buy in the snack bar tastes that much sweeter. By 6:30, youre back at Union Station.
The Ski Train makes day trips Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Fridays beginning February 6 and Thursdays beginning February 19. Tickets are $59 per person; discounts are available for kids, groups and seniors. Go to www.skitrain.com or call 303-296-4754 for tickets, as the train does sell out.
