Colfax Avenue earns its storied notoriety the long, hard way -- it's the longest continuous commercial roadway in the U.S., kissed for decades by summer-night cruising, streetside commerce and the salt of the earth, and it begs to be photographed any time of day on any stretch of its 26-plus miles.

So it was a no-brainer for the folks in the new 40 West Arts District -- which identifies itself with the thoroughfare -- to choose Colfax as the theme for its Month of Photography show. Fifty works were selected for the exhibit, which will start out today as two shows split between the 40 West Gallery in Lakewood and the McNichols Building in Denver; 40 West's portion is then set to go on tour later in March to businesses along the entire length of the avenue.
