The new year is here — and while there's snow on the ground, the local fashion scene is gearing up for spring with plenty of hot events. From bridal parties to meet-and-greets, trunk shows to sales, here are a dozen fashion events to put on the calendar for January.

1. Meeting Aphrodite 
7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 13

2) Raw Beauty: Emma and Grace 2016 Private Label Fashion Show

3. Steven Alan Optical Trunk Show

To celebrate the arrival of Steven Alan Optical's new collection, local menswear boutique Armitage & McMillan is hosting a trunk show with the eyewear masters and offering early access to the spring 2016 collection. Eyeglasses and sunglasses from Steven Alan Optical's current collection will be featured as well, and shoppers can enter a raffle to win prizes that include Steven Alan Optical sunglasses and more. 6. Liberty Boot Trunk Show
7 p.m. Saturday, January 16

Cry Baby Ranch, the Western boutique in Larimer Square, is hosting its annual trunk show with Liberty Bootst. Peyote Bird Jewelry will make a cameo appearance; tony Benattar of Liberty Boots will be on hand to answer questions and help customers build their own one-of-a-kind boots; and suthor Jim Arndt will sign copies of his books. 8) Fashion Group International Kick-Off Celebration

Fashion Group International is a global non-profit professional organization with members in the fashion industry including apparel, accessories, beauty and home. Members, potential members and friends are welcome to attend FGI's free annual kickoff party. This is a great chance to network with Denver's top fashion professionals and meet FGI's new elect board and committee members. FGI will also announce their schedule of events planned for 2016 at this kick-off. The theme for this event, which combines music and fashion over drinks, is social meets Downtown. There will be music by Mrshl Nobody, along with hip-hop, top 40, and trap music. Worthless : Priceless Clothing will provide the fashion while bottle service is preferred.
