Throw down! Crested Butte Mountain Resort was just voted #1 in Powder Magazine's 2013 Ski Town Throwdown, in case you needed a new excuse to head that way. Here's another: the Rock on Ice crew is rocking out at Crested Butte Mountain Resort this week, carving massive ice sculptures in the Courtyard at Mountaineer Square that will help up your holiday photo album game.

Sochi preview, Part 2! The U.S. Grand Prix event at Copper Mountain this week doubles as the second of five selection events for the U.S. Olympic team, which means all of the top freeskiers and snowboarders are in town to battle it out. Men's ski halfpipe finals are at 7 p.m. today, and weekend events include ski slopestyle finals at 11 a.m. and snowboard halfpipe finals at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and slopestyle snowboard finals on Sunday. While you're at it, check out the 12 Days of Copper promotions and holiday events around the mountain.

Light it up! Steamboat opens for night skiing and riding under the Christie Peak Express chairlift for the first time today, with a grand lighting celebration at 5 p.m., complete with a torchlight parade and fireworks. Night skiing hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today through Sunday, and then again nightly from December 26 through January 5. Check Steamboat.com for dates and hours after that.

Kidtopia! Keystone's been stepping up its kid-friendly game every year, and the Kidtopia Snowfort -- opening today at the top of Dercum Mountain -- is the centerpiece. In years past Keystone has also had the most legit Santa we've seen, complete with a real live reindeer: a perfect chance to pose it out for the EpicMix photographers. Also look for holiday ice skating shows by the Denver Figure Skating Club this weekend in Lakeside Village.

See Santa on the slopes at Winter Park this weekend and on Christmas Eve, then settle in for the actual holiday at Doc's Roadhouse, serving holiday dinners on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 5 to 10 p.m. for $29.50/adult, $12.95/12 and under. Don't miss the Christmas Eve torchlight parade down Lower Hughes to the base area, a classic Colorado tradition starting at 5:30 p.m. and followed by fireworks. Vail's annual Holidaze festival is on this weekend, with figure skating shows at the Solaris Plaza Ice Rink on today and tomorrow at 5 p.m., and a Logan Luminescence performance on Sunday at 5 p.m.

Nice threads! All of the Aspen/Snowmass resorts have holiday happenings, this week, but the Ugly Sweater Party you're looking for is at Chair 9, the new après ski bar at the Little Nell, starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, December 22, just after the tree lighting celebration.
