“I basically wait to get to paid, then I go out and get the nicest clothes I can afford,” says Jon Evans, better known for playing in Action Packed Thrill Ride. “I go to Wal-Mart for T-shirts because they have the best blank tees for $2.99… I also get my underwear there. Hanes, no-tag,” he adds, pulling a pair of grey skivvies above his pants.
Jon is definitely the definition of thrift-cool, the example that you don’t have to spend a fortune to be the hottest guy in a room; it’s all in how you rock it. “I’ve been avoiding ARC lately, though,” he adds. “Everything I’ve gotten recently just falls apart.”
Catch him and the band live on stage tonight at the Meadowlark, starting at 8 p.m., though you won’t see him dancing around with his mariachi stand up he usually plays; the rustic Mexican beast has a monstrous crack in it, so instead he’ll be on his electric bass.
Afterward, he’s heading downtown to Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret to see his girlfriend, Jessa, who will be tending bar at the opening of Lannie Garrett’s Screen Gems. So what will he be wearing to see his lady?
“I don’t know, I don’t worry about it that much.”
If only it was that easy for all of us.
