The folks at Intercambio hope to recall the villages of 1810 “New Spain” with classic Mexican newsreels and Independence-related films, a handlebar mustache competition and a period photo booth, but the evening will also take a more modern turn, with luche libre fighters, Mexican eats and Latin spins by DJ Insurgente.
“Our mission is to build respectful communities and broaden opportunities for immigrants through language education, cultural exchange and friendship,” says Intercambio executive director Caitlin Fitzpatrick, and those elements will also be on display at Lunes Libre, where guests will have a chance to mingle with the organization’s students and volunteers.
¡Arriba! Celebrate with Intercambio from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Ginn Mill, 2041 Larimer Street; admission is free, but donations are requested for food and some activities. In addition, all proceeds from bar sales will benefit the nonprofit. For information, see the Lunes Libre Facebook event page or call 303-433-0190.
