Sometimes the art we like can tell people as much about us as the art we make. That's the idea behind this week's installment of Illiterate Film Night. The four artists currently exhibiting at the Illiterate gallery — David Coccagna, Andrew Hoffman, Sander Lindeke and Katherine Rutter — will each select and introduce a short film, explaining why they chose the piece and what it means to them.

“The idea was to choose something that was indicative of them, something that will give some insight into their personality or creative process," explains Illiterate director Adam Gildar. "We're trying to give a little bit of insight into the personalities behind the work. This is just one way that we're able to do that."

One of the offerings will be the 1956 French film The Red Balloon, selected by Katherine Rutter. The remaining films have yet to be announced.

The program starts tonight at 8 p.m. at Illiterate, 82 South Broadway. Admission is free, and popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase. For more information, visit www.illiteratemedia.com or call 303-993-4474.
