I went around beating down their doors, Corrigan says. Theres not a lot of funding for creative endeavors, and we were sick of asking people to do things for free. So we decided, Why dont we have some fundraisers so we can do things? The result is tonights Test Market fundraiser for Create Denver, which takes YesPleaseMores basic pop-up model a step further: Instead of selling merchandise, this party will be selling arts and culture.
Everyone is programming a piece of the space. Its like a box of chocolates, Corrigan explains. Were inviting people to come and sample some of Denvers best emerging cultural leaders and established leaders. And he credits those leaders for jumping into the concept so enthusiastically. Its an exciting thing, he continues. How many cities do you know of where all kinds of institutions will come together to raise money for someone other than themselves? And the best part about this is how were wrapping the party in data that shows how culturally significant Denver is.
Test Market, which includes flash performances, live music, a crafting bar, giveaways and much more, runs from 8 p.m. to midnight, tonight in the old Wolfgang Puck space on the second floor of the Denver Pavilions, 500 16th Street.
