Newman notes that it's very easy to make a zombie version of just about any Halloween costume, so no more excuses on that count: "It's a low-hanging branch to go that route, and it gets lots of people participating."
Zombie-related events start at 11 a.m. in Skyline Park (16th and Arapahoe streets) with the Organ Trail, a cleverly named scavenger hunt where the winning team Newman recommends groups of two to six people gets $300. It costs $30 per team member in advance, and $40 the day of the hunt. That's followed by a couple hours of music, shopping for undead paraphernalia and free makeup services beginning at 2 p.m. Just before 4 p.m., there will be a massive group performance of "Thriller." Then it's the obligatory lap around LoDo from 4 to 7 p.m. And if your fake blood hasn't coagulated by then, there's a Zombie Crawl after-party in the basement of City Hall, with zombie attire requested. Admission to the party is $15 for eighteen- to twenty-year-olds, $10 for 21 and up.
