Stamina is key at the Go Fast 24 Hours of BoulderSThe Run, during which more than 100 runners will race to complete as many 7.14-mile laps around the Boulder Reservoir as possible in 24 hours. "We're hoping to attract a wide variety of people -- those who are out there just to have fun, people who are taking it on as a challenge, and ultra-runners who are experienced at this," says race director Reid Delman. "The race is really designed as a team event; all you have to do is run at least one seven-mile lap."
Produced by Niwot-based Gemini Adventure Events and sponsored by Eastern Mountain Sports, the adventure race, which is open to both solo runners and teams of up to five people, will start today at noon; on-site registration begins at 9 a.m. Entry fees are $100 for individuals and range from $60 to $90 per person for teams.

Not all golf courses in America are certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries, but they should be: The peaceful, tree-lined greens surrounded by untouched, non-playable areas constitute prime territory for wild birds and other animals. Thanks to Superintendent Joe McCleary and naturalist Jeannine Fitzgeralds of Aurora's Saddle Rock Golf Course, at least one prairie-hugging putter's patch in the area is taking part in the program. Today only -- while greens maintenance keeps the golf balls from flying -- bird enthusiasts are invited to visit Saddle Rock, a course that boasts a large area of untampered-with acreage. Load up your picnic goodies, binoculars, cameras and sunscreen, and come on out for Flock to the Rock, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bird checklists and Saddle Rock maps will be available at the clubhouse, 21710 East Arapahoe Road, Aurora; admission is free. Outdoors Woman clinic breaks barriers

Want to become a rugged Colorado lady? Then head to Pagosa Springs this weekend for Becoming an Outdoors Woman. "Our main goal is to break down the barriers that women face in getting outdoors," says Lenora Lovett, BOW coordinator for the state. "This is a comfort-zone stretcher, a horizon expander and a confidence builder."
Sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the three-day workshop takes place at the Pagosa Lodge in Pagosa Springs. Classes offered include Safe & Sane Camping, Firearm Safety, Beginning Archery/ Bowhunting and Fantastic Fly Fishing.
"It's a great vehicle for people who are interested in exploring the outdoors, because you're with a bunch of women who are on the same page as you," says Lovett.
