The best way to get through a bad movie is by making good jokes at its expense. But to get through something that is legendarily bad, you’ll need professional help. Luckily, that’s exactly what you get with RiffTrax Live: Birdemic. The professionals are Kevin Murphy, Michael J. Nelson and Bill Corbett, formerly of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The film is a disastrously inept message movie about global warming, delivered in the form of a fifth-rate knockoff of Hitchcock’s The Birds.

“We sort of fell in love with it, just because it’s a great example of really inept filmmaking. At the same time, it’s so well-intentioned and earnest, you can’t help but like it,” says Murphy. “All these films, our challenge is to make them fun for an audience that doesn’t necessarily like bad films. [Birdemic] will be an even more joyous experience than our Manos show was, because the film doesn’t make you want to die.”

The simulcast live show -- transmitted from a theater in Nashville -- will also offer a new short and some Halloween surprises. It screens at 7 p.m. at numerous local theaters, including the Pavilions 15, 500 16th Street. Tickets are $12.50; to purchase yours and to get more info, including a complete list of theaters, visit www.rifftrax.com or www.fathomevents.com.
