Today's Seeing Purple A Celebration of Music, Film and Life, a Colorado Film Commission benefit sponsored by the Starz Denver Pan African Film Festival and O'Connor's Hundred Acre Films, puts forth several ways to do so. Boulder's Zebra Marimba plays music for dancing, and short films by Colorado moviemakers and 1985's The Color Purple, based on Alice Walker's novel, are scheduled for screening.
Seeing Purple takes place at the Esquire Theatre, 590 Downing Street. Zebra Marimba's show and the short-film presentation begin at 4:30 p.m. and are free; tickets for The Color Purple, which begins at 6 p.m., are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. O'Connor adds that folks who wear African fashions or '30s-era outfits or dress as a favorite Purple character will receive discounted admission. Dial 720-327-0349 for details.
