Building on a movement that started in Dallas in 2010, Better Block is designed to have an impact long after the tents roll up and the street returns to normal. The hope is to build a tangible, albeit transitory, vision of a more dynamic city, one block at a time. “As a parent of school-age children, I understand the power of show and tell,” says co-organizer Gosia Kung. “Better Block is a demonstration of rediscovering hidden potential of Denver urban neighborhood districts. While the pop-up businesses and streetscape improvements will only last one day, we hope to plant the seed in peoples’ minds that would spark permanent investments in Jefferson Park.”
Experience the transformation today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on West 25th Avenue between Federal Boulevard and Eliot Street. Visit www.betterblockjp.org for information, including ways to get involved.
