Though the distinct literary styles of the coastal regions and the American South have been intensively explored, Conundrum Press publisher Caleb Seeling says that the Rocky Mountain region has not yet been given its due. That’s why he decided to buy and revamp Conundrum, a literary press founded in 1999 that published Colorado Book Award winners before taking a break for a few years.

Tonight, the press will re-debut at what Seeling calls “a big coming-out party” and will release three new books of poetry. “We are exploring what I think is the last frontier of American literature,” says Seeling. “The Rocky Mountains as a literary region has not really been appreciated as much as it needs to be. My vision for Conundrum is to explore the voices and the themes of the Rocky Mountain region in a way that it is interesting and important for the national culture.”

That mission will kick off tonight at 7 p.m. with readings from Eleanor Swanson, Robert King and former Denver poet laureate Chris Ransick; music from members of Chimney Choir, a boutique coffee tasting from Ninety-Plus Geisha Estates, tacos, and art from Converge Denver will round out the evening.

Conundrum in RiNo is free, but donations will be accepted to help support the Young Writers Program at the Lighthouse Writers Workshop. The event takes place at Converge Denver, 3327 Brighton Boulevard. For tickets and information, go to conundrum-press.com or conundruminrino.eventbrite.com.
