"Food that you eat with your eyes first," explains Loffelmacher. "Food that tends to be very theatrical before it's ever even served, that looks beautiful on the table, that makes people 'ooh' and 'ah.' It's been one of the more difficult ones to book." With those criteria, it's no wonder, but tonight's Scene Stealers Cooking Demo: Italian Timpani (inspired by the film Big Night) takes a great idea and runs with it.
Pulcinella Ristorante's star chef, Antonio Race, will demonstrate the multiple-ingredient molded-pasta dish. "He's a full-on Italian regional cook," Loffelmacher says, "and timpani is very regional. It's highly personalized from region to region and even family to family."
The free cooking demo takes place today from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the B2 conference center of the Central Library, 10 West 14th Avenue Parkway; visit http://denverlibrary.org/programs/fresh/index.html or call 720-865-1206 for information.
