The first film in a new monthly series called Seeing Queerly, presented by the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of Colorado, will be No Secret Anymore -- The Times of Del Martin & Phyllis Lyon.

Directed by Joan E. Biren, the 57-minute documentary chronicles half a century of political activism and personal commitment in the lives of the two women widely regarded as the founders of the modern lesbian civil rights movement. The relationship of Martin and Lyon, the filmmaker tells us, spans the history of the struggle, from the time lesbians feared discovery of their sexual preference to the expectation of social equality. Secret will screen at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 15, at the Arco Iris Designs Gallery, 82 South Broadway.

The GLBT Center will present series films on the third Thursday of each month and will host the sixth annual Denver International GLBT Film Festival April 1 through 4 at Madstone Theaters in Tamarac Square.

Area filmmakers interested in submitting work for inclusion in the Seeing Queerly series should contact GLBT Center events manager Greg Lovell at 303-733-7743. For series and festival information, go to www.denverfilmfestival.com or www.madstonetheaters.com
