Two of the most visible figures in West Coast techno, Drumcell and Audio Injection rose to prominence during the past decade as promoters of Southern California's infamous Interface warehouse parties. Occasionally performing together as Cell Injection, the Los Angeles-based DJ/producers champion a distinctive style of the genre that is more aggressive and discordant than the minimal techno coming out of Berlin and Detroit. Their live shows — which extract maximum performance from cutting-edge music software programs Ableton and Traktor — blur the line between deejaying and live PA. The pair have earned praise from techno demigods Richie Hawtin and Speedy J. and have released tracks on such highly esteemed techno imprints as Chris Liebing's CLR and Adam Beyer's Drumcode, as well as on their own label, Droid Behavior.
