Don't let the gimmicky giant mouse head fool you: Canadian progressive electro-house producer Deadmau5 (pronounced "dead mouse") is much more than a mere stage prop. His energetic, playful mixes are a true melding of electro and house, merging the energy and soaring emotion of house with the darker, dirtier atmosphere of electro. The result is a fascinating mix of styles that's unpredictable, fun and always danceable, and it's usually married to an equally compelling light show bound to blow your mind. He's won Juno, Beatport and International Dance Music awards for his unique blend of funky house stylings with dirty electro undertones, and he even performed at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. And in a true test of pop-culture relevance, he'll appear as an avatar in the upcoming DJ Hero 2 game, mashing up his Billboard hit "Ghosts N Stuff" with "Just Dance," by none other than Lady Gaga.
