DJ Heather grew up in a household in which eclectic music abounded, and as she got older, fate threw mixing opportunities her way, from a gig at a college radio station to a stint programming weekend music at a neighborhood pub. Those experiences led her to explore the ways that DJs at the best clubs in Chicago (including Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Gemini, Lego and many more) put together sets in the late '80s and early '90s, and she quickly picked up on the art of mixing records. Since then, her irreverent, jazzy sound has helped define what Chicago house can be — and she's been signed to fellow former Chicago resident Farina's Om label, proving her worth as an international tastemaker. DJ Heather shares a bill at NORAD this Saturday, April 6, with fellow Chicago house diva Colette.
