It's been three years since the Fray last attended the Grammys. And the act's chances of walking away with a statue aren't any better this time around, unfortunately. Last time around, coincidentally enough, Isaac Slade and company were also pitted against Black Eyed Peas, as they are tonight, as well as Death Cab for Cutie, Keane and the Pussycat Dolls.
"Over My Head (Cable Car)," which was up for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, lost out to "My Humps" by the Peas. "How to Save a Life," meanwhile, nominated alongside songs from U2 and Green Day, ended up losing out to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who took home a Grammy for "Dani California."
This year, the Fray has likewise been nominated for another pair of Grammys, one for Best Pop Vocal Album, for its self-titled sophomore record, and one for Best Pop Performance By A Duo or Group With Vocals for "Never Say Never." As much as we're pulling for the hometown boys, like we said, smart money's on the Peas in both categories. Who knows, though, maybe this is the Fray's year. Never say never, right?
