Since launching Greater Than -- the music cultivating partnership between Illegal Pete's Pete Turner, Virgil Dickerson of Suburban Home Records and Andy Thomas -- the collective has issued albums by Snake Rattle Rattle Snake, Ian Cooke, comedian Ben Roy, and, most recently, comedian Cobraconda. You can now add the Epilogues to that list. The company, which has just signed a distribution deal with Sony RED through Megaforce Records, has announced plans to release the Epilogues' forthcoming album.
Dickerson says the Epilogues have already started working the album's single, "The Fallout," and have already been getting a lot of play on KTCL. The group also recently shot a video for the song, slated to appear on the album, which was recorded at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins and Colorado Sound Studio in Denver and due out in late August.
"We're trying to just assemble a really good team," Dickerson says of Greater Than. "Our goal at the end of the day is to try to help some of these really talented local artists achieve more of a national and international fanbase."
"Without announcing any of the other acts," he says, "we are talking to other Denver acts. We're trying to be smart about it and not try to get too crazy, but, man, there are so many amazing bands in Denver. We think Denver is making as good a music, or not better, than anywhere else...hopefully, as we put out more records, people will pay more attention."
Catch the Epilogues and In the Whale at two free shows, tonight at the DU location of Illegal Pete's(1744 East Evans Avenue) and on Friday, May 4, with Cobraconda at the Illegal Pete's in Boulder (1447 Pearl Street).
