The 2014 festival brought out some 130 bands, including The Yawpers, Wiredogs, Wendy Woo band, The Patti Fiasco, Sarah and The Meanies, Ark Life and more. The 2015 event is the 7th annual FoCoMX.

The application for the music festival calls for basic contact info, as well as audio and video submission. The Fort Collins Music Association, a non-profit organization that works towards curating the city as a cultural hub and represents local musicians interests, started FoCoMX as a small series of shows. Now, while their board still has last say in the artists chosen, the festival has grown to take over all the venues and many bars in the area over the April weekend. "We started FoCoMX to just say 'Hey, we have a music scene,'" says Greta Cornett, FoCo MA President. "We felt as we were overlooked, as Boulder and Denver have great, thriving music scenes."
Last year, weekend passes were $30 and the profits which went directly to the artists and venues. All musicians from northern Colorado are given free tickets to the event. This past year, organizers capped the event at 5,000 attendees, as the 2012 event maxed out at 7,500 attendees. The ticket numbers for 2015 have not been announced yet.
Many genres are represented over the weekend, and organizers look for variety in the lineup. "We want to show that we have a large diversity of talent here in Northern Colorado," says Cornett. She explains that while the festival started as only a Fort Collins showcase, the organizers welcome the expanding Colorado music scene. The applications can be found online at www.FoCoMX.org.
