It's less than a week now until Christmas. Did you get all your shopping done yet? Ah, don't beat yourself up. Neither have we. If you're like us, you've probably got some people on your list who are just impossible to buy for, yes? If so, here's an idea, one that won't require you to brave the masses of materialistic maniacs at the mall. Why not give the gift of music? Right? So simple. So obvious. And lucky you, there's some great shows going on sale this week. Cat Power at the Ogden, Lucero at the Bluebird, Mike Cooley at the Larimer and more. Keep reading for more info on those shows and this week's other new dates, as well as local radio playlists and a rundown of the week's top album sellers.

This Just In: New Concerts and On-Sale Dates


Cat Power, who released her sixth studio effort, Sun, in September and collaborated with the brain trust at Funny or Die for the absolutely masterful clip above, visits the Ogden Theatre on Thursday, January 24. General admission tickets ($33.50) go on sale on Wednesday, December 19 at 10 a.m.

Lucero, a band that folks in the Mile High City love as one of its own, returns to Denver, the group's veritable home away from home, for a date at the Bluebird on Thursday, April 18, with Langhorne Slim & the Law. Tickets for this show ($25/$30) go on sale this Saturday, December 22 at 10 a.m.

Drive-By Truckers guitarist and singer Mike Cooley stops by the Larimer Lounge on Saturday, February 23 in support of his brand new solo effort, The Fool on Every Corner. Tickets ($20/$25) are on sale now.

Salvador Santana, son of legendary guitarist Carlos, will be in the area for a pair of dates, including Friday, March 8, at the Marquis Theater and Sunday, March 10, at the Black Sheep. Tickets go for both shows go on sale on Friday, December 21 at 10 a.m.

Mindless Self Indulgence, who's set to release a new album in March, hits the Ogden Theatre on Saturday, April 27, and tickets ($23.50) also go on sale on Wednesday, December 19 at 10 a.m.

On the EDM front: MartyParty is coming to the Black Sheep in Colorado Springs on Sunday, January 27. Tickets ($12) are on sale now. Also, Feed Me with Teeth is slated to hit the Ogden Theatre on Tuesday, February 12, with Mord Fustang. Tickets ($29.95-$35) are on sale now.

Finally, on Thursday, March 14, Flyleaf will share a bill with Drowning Pool at the Summit Music Hall, and then two nights later on Saturday, March 16, Cradle of Filth graces the stage at Summit. Ticket for both shows go on sale this week.
