For a split EP to really work, there usually has to be some kind of musical kinship. Patrick Dethlefs and Eye & the Arrow, who each contribute four songs to the EP, both obviously share an affinity for indie folk, and although they're on similar wavelengths, Eye & the Arrow takes an electric lo-fi route, while Dethlefs, who began writing his own songs at the age of fifteen, delivers more of a polished effort fueled by his acoustic guitar playing. Eye & the Arrow's reverb-drenched, melancholic "Mexico" and Dethlefs's wistful "Done and Done" are two highlights here. Although these two acts could have each released separate four-song EPs, the eight tracks here work quite well together.
